Help: General User Functions -> Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

The following are some common questions that are related to this topic.

I have forgotten my username/password, what can I do?

Please use our password reset form to reset the password for any accounts you have set up.  All you need to retrieve the forgotten info is the email address you registered with.

How do I join a pool?

You must register to join a pool.  To join a pool, click the "Join Pool" button at the bottom of the My Pools console.  You will be taken to our Join Pool form, where you will prompted to enter a Pool ID and Password.  Alternatively, you can join a pool by clicking the Join URL from a sent e-mail pool invitation.

Can I join some sort of public pool?

We currently do not support the concept of private vs. public pools.  All pools run through OPJ are considered private, where you must have the pool password in order to join.

Do I have to register a new user ID for each pool I join/create?

No, you can join/create as many pools as you wish with the same ID.

How do enter multiple entries in the same pool?

You must register and join a separate user ID for each entry you want to enter.

How can I change my username?

You can't!  If you'd like to use another username, you must register a separate one.  If you've just joined a pool, re-join it with your new username and ask your Pool Administrator to remove your old one.  If your Pool is currently underway (i.e. you've made picks), unfortunately you will have to keep playing under your current username, unless your Pool Admin is willing to re-enter your old pick(s) for you under your new username.

How do I disable the automated e-mail reminders?

To disable the automated e-mail reminders, uncheck the "Enable E-mail Reminders" checkbox under My Profile.

I'd like to use a different e-mail address than the one I specified when I register.  Is that possible?

Yes, simply update your e-mail address under My Profile.

How do I change my password?

You can change your password under My Profile.

How do I contact my Pool Administrator?

To e-mail your Pool Administrator, click the corresponding "E-mail Administrator" icon under My Pools.

Can I look at past pools that are now over?

Yes, click the Archived Pools filter menu under My Pools and all past pools will be displayed.

How does the Paid status on My Pools change to "Yes"?

The Paid status under My Pools is controlled by the Pool Administrator.  Once they record a paid entry fee, the status will change accordingly.

What do the numbers represent in the Post column on My Pools?

The convention used for the Post column under My Pools is x / y, where x and y are the number of posts made since your last login and total number of posts respectively.

Can anyone modify the pool configuration or a participants' Paid status?

No, the Pool Administration functional icons under My Pools are only enabled for the Pool's Administrator.

Why can't I post to the Pool Message Board?

The Pool Message Board is a configurable option in our Pool Configuration Wizard.  If your Pool Administrator hasn't enabled it, you will not be able to post to it.

Is the Pool Message Board moderated?

Only Pool Administrators can moderate Pool Message Boards.  They can delete topics, edit posts or even hide posts altogether.  However, how they chose to moderate the Pool Message Board is completely up to them.

Does the Pool Message Board support HTML tags?

Yes!
